Training for Libyan Government Environment Officials in Akyaka

Stakeholder Engagement Training was conducted for Libyan Government Officials in Akyaka (Mugla-Turkey) by WWF Mediterranean Programme Office and US National Oceanography and Atmospere Administration for the dates of February 10-14 2013.
On the last day of the training, supported by Strengthening the System of Marine and Coastal Protected Areas of Turkey Project, Turkish governmental officials working in marine protected areas shared their experiences and challanges throughout the meeting which took place in the Marine and Coastal Protected Areas Implementation and Training Center.
15 participants including environmental officers from Libyan Envrionmental General Authority of Tripoli, Albayda, Benghazi and Turoq, representatives of Marine Biology Research Center from Tripoli, Zuarra and Turoq and Libyan Coast Command attanded to the event. Turkish officials namely Muğla Environment and Urbanization Provincial Directorate, Muğla Food, Agriculture and Livestock Provincial Directorate, Marmaris Coast Command, Akyaka Aquaculture Cooperative briefed the participants about the activities they are carrying out in the field.
Gökova SEPA, introduced to the participants
Following the presentations about Gökova SEPA, event participants visited Akyaka Fisheries Cooperative and exchanged the experiences and opinions about the marine protected areas. Later, Libyan environment experts were introduced the area at a field trip making a boat tour through Akyaka Kadın Creek and Akçapınar Ferek Creek.
