Ayvalık Islands' Marine Biodiversity Inventory was determined

Ayvalık Adalari Nature Park's Marine Biodiversity Inventory Study briefing was delivered in Ayvalık Chamber of Commerce Meeting Hall on 12 February 2014.
The meeting commenced with the opening speech of Mr. Atasay Tanrısever, Chief of Burhaniye Nature Conservation and National Parks, and continued with Ms. Esra Kartal’s (the project field expert) presentation: "Marine and Coastal Protected Areas" Then results obtained in the study were presented by Ayvalik Adalari Nature Park Study Scientific Coordinator Dr.Baki Yokes on behalf of WWF-Turkey.
Twenty eight representatives of major stakeholders of different institutions Ayvalık Adaları Nature Park participated to the meeting.
Under this inventory study 12 scientists had cooperated on field and laboratory. As a result of the study, 671 marine species were identified in the Park. One of the most significant findings was, ecologically important coralligenous habitats were found, and the Park boundaries should be expanded to engulf these habitats.
Ayvalık Adaları Nature Park Marine Biodiversity Inventory Study was carried out by WWF Turkey for the PIMS 3697: Strengthening the System of Marine and Coastal Protected Areas of Turkey.
